Common Strains on Marriages
Any couple that has been married for any period of time should be able to admit that life in the married realm is not always blissfully happy and perfect. All marriages, or nearly all of them, experience some sort of strain at some point during the life of the marriage. The majority of strains fall under the financial, emotional, or personal categories. This does not mean that they all fall in these departments but more fall in these groups than outside of these groups.
Financial strains are among the most common strains on a marriage. A couple may fight when the money is tight or when one spouse is working way too much and never sees the other spouse. When the money is tight, it is much harder to combat the stress or strain than when one spouse works too much. When one spouse works too much, it may simply be a question of getting that spouse to spend some time at home on the weekend or pledging to be home by a certain time at night, if possible.
Emotional strains are less easy to put a finger on. A couple having problems having a baby may feel some emotional strain. It’s also possible that a couple with a new baby that refuses to sleep can cause emotional strains.
Personal strains are things like health issues and family. If a person’s family is going through a family crisis, it can affect his or her marriage.
