Tips to prepare for property division

Posted on March 22nd, 2011 No Comments

In a divorce, decisions may need to be made concerning property division, spousal support, child custody, child support, and more.  Property division is one of the most encountered issues in a divorce because most couples acquire some jointly owned property or debt during a marriage.  In addition, during or after a divorce, couples will have to sort through separately owned property.  One tip to document  marital property is to walk through your residence and record all of your and your spouse’s belongings.

Another tip for making the property division process easier is to make a list of all of your and your spouses’ assets and debts, both jointly and separately owned.  Not only can this be helpful in determining family law matters like property division, but it can also give you a better idea of what your finances will look like when living independently.

Camille Grammer demands half of Kelsey’s assets

According to “Page Six” in the New York Post, Camille Grammer is demanding to have an equal division of assets between herself and her ex-husband, former “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer.  Camille Grammer, 42, can be seen on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.

Both Camille and Kelsey shared joint ownership of the television production company that created “Frasier” as well as other shows.  In December, Kelsey Grammer offered Camille approximately one-third of his assets and property, equating around $30 million.  Camille turned this offer down on the grounds that it did not include child support for their two children or spousal support.  As an equal partner in the couple’s business, Camille has asked their $100 million to be divided equally between them with $50 million each.
