Christina Aguilera and husband settle divorce amicably

Posted on February 15th, 2011 No Comments

Christina Aguilera and music executive Jordan Bratman were recently able to settle their divorce without going to court.  The two came to agreements on child custody and finances after months of discussion.

Aguilera and Bratman have decided to share joint-custody of their 3-year old son, Max.  The two have even remained living together after completing divorce papers in October to continue raising the boy together.  Sources have not released details regarding division of property, debt or assets, but the two are said to have included decisions on these issues in the finalized divorce.

The couple’s divorce will not become official until six months after they first completed divorce papers because they were not filed in a divorce court.  The two will officially be divorce on April 15, 2011.

‘Primetime’ follows couple’s mediation

An Arizona couple, 50-year old Chris and 52-year old Shari Stewart, allowed ABC’s “Primetime” cameras to follow them in their nine months of living together and trying to settle a divorce through mediation.

With the nation’s economic and housing market troubles, the Stewarts lived together for nine months after they decided to divorce.   The couple has been married for 18 years and has three children, ages 16, 12, and 11.   The two told their children last August that they would be getting a divorce and would stay living together until they sold the house.  Unfortunately, the value of their 5,000 square foot million-dollar home in Tempe, Arizona has dramatically fallen.   Shari Stewart estimates they lost around $300,000 to $400,000 on the house, forcing them to stay living under the same roof together.

Shari Stewart stated even after a couple weeks of living together, “It never fails. We disagree about something. It could be something as small as how long somebody cooked the noodles to buying the wrong tile at Home Depot”.  The two decided to turn to mediation to try and settle their divorce as amicably and reasonably as possible.
